There is an innate desire within each us to make a difference. Ultimately, we all want to feel useful. Completing the assignment that God has assigned to you is the most useful thing you can do. Here are three keys to be used by God:

1. Be willing. There are many gifted individuals, but not everyone is willing to sacrifice. Peter was an accomplished fisherman but he was willing to give up all he had accomplished to follow Jesus and be used for His purposes. Jesus said in Mark 1:17, "come and follow me and I will make you fishers of men". Willingness is critical if you are going to be used by God.
2. Be available. Time is a precious commodity. We often say God is our priority but we must make sure that the time we spend with Him and His kingdom work reflect that God is a priority. Not only do you have to be willing, you also have to be available. In Isaiah 6:8, the question was asked by God, "whom shall we send"? Isaiah responded, "send me I will go". When you are available like Isaiah was, God can use you in incredible ways.
3. Be reliable. We know that we can trust God, but God needs to know if He can trust us. God asked Abraham to sacrifice Isaac—the promised child, in order to see if Abraham would kill His son in order to obey Him. Abraham's willingness to sacrifice Isaac in Genesis 22:12 revealed to God that Abraham was someone God could count on. Reliability is vital to be used by God, as souls are at stake!
You may not feel like you have much to offer, but the great thing about our God is that he specializes in using ordinary people to do extraordinary things. If you are willing to be used by God, He will use you. As the Bible says in Matthew 9:37, "the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few". If you are available, God will use you, as many are distracted by their own ambition and the things of this world. If you are reliable, not only will God use you, but He will continue to use you as He is looking for people who have His heart. I hope that these keys help you to see that you can be used by God. As always, stay rooted in God.
Meditation Verse:
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
Matthew 9:37-38
