Have you ever had a door slam in your face? If you have, you know that rejection can be very discouraging. Life has a way of slamming proverbial doors in your face. Have you been here? You are up for a promotion, but it goes to a less qualified individual. Or maybe you worked hard to learn a new skill, only to fall flat on your face. Perhaps you finally built up the nerve to reconcile with someone, only to be met with resistance. As believers, we have access to the One who has the power to open ANY door. The question becomes; do we know how to take advantage of this awesome privilege? The Bible is filled with examples of individuals who knew how to access the power of God. Here's a few:
1 Kings 18:41-45 records Elijah praying for it to rain when it had never rained before. He accessed the power of God through prayer and God granted his request. This same power is available to you and I through prayer.
Joshua 10:12-13 records Joshua praying that the sun would stand still while they were at war with their enemies. He accessed the power of God through prayer and God granted his request.

The exciting news is that we have the same access to God that Elijah and Joshua had. This was made possible through Jesus' death on the cross. This allows us to go boldly to the throne of grace which creates an environment where God can do the miraculous through us as well. Here are two components for accessing the power of God:
1. A relationship with God. In order to access the power of God, you have to have a relationship with Him. We build our relationship with God by spending time with Him. We spend time with God by reading and studying His word, worshiping Him and praying. These habits are critical because they allow you to learn the nature, character, and heart of God. This allows God to speak to you and you build trust in Him.
2. Faith in God. Hebrews 11:6 teaches us that without faith it is impossible to please God. If you come to God, you must first believe that God can do whatever it is that you are asking God to do. Faith is the key to accessing the power of God.
If you have these two things, you can be confident that your access will be granted. God's plan for you will prevail. Don't worry about closed doors because God has the master key.
As always, stay rooted in God.
Meditation Verse:
“Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you.
