LET'S GET FOCUSED

Life is full of distractions:Netflix, Hulu, Youtube and social media, just to name a few. Is it me or does it feel like every time you try to focus on something, you get a call, notifications, or a random text message? This is how the enemy works. If the enemy can keep you distracted, he can delay you from reaching your potential. We are so accustomed to being distracted that we think it is normal to watch tv, work, talk on the phone and listen to music all at the same time. If we are going to reach our God given potential, we are going to have to learn how to focus! Here are three things that will help you become a more focused individual:

1. You have to have a God given purpose. Jesus was keenly aware of his purpose which allowed him to stay focus despite a myriad of distractions (John 4:34).

2. You have to be disciplined. Focus requires discipline. Prayer helps us to become disciplined individuals.Jesus prayed early in the morning for the strength and the wisdom to be discipline in pursuing his God given purpose (Mark 1:35).

3. You have to sacrifice! Focus requires sacrifice! You have to give up things that do not edify you or get you closer to your God-given purpose. Jesus gave up all the glory of heaven, to become human, so that He could fulfill his God-given purpose ( Philippians 2:5-8).

We all can do a better job of focusing! To be like Christ is to be focused on the assignment that God has given you. Don't despise your assignment. Maybe God has called you to be an excellent mom. Focus on that. Maybe God has called you to be a teacher or mentor. Focus on that. Maybe God has called you to be a caretaker. Focus on that. Whatever God has called you to do, focus on that. Being focused is not is easy, but it is possible.

As always, stay rooted!

Verse of the week:

Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established. Proverbs 16:3 (ESV)
