Lost a loved one? Miscarried? Lost a job? Had a person you trusted let you down? Divorced? All of these things can make it difficult to move forward. Truth be told, we would all love to just wallow in the pain that those traumatic events caused. However, as people of faith, we must be able to move past our pain into our purpose. As a matter of fact, there will be pain on your path to your purpose. Pain is a part of life. How you deal with your pain will determine the trajectory of your life. Faith gives you the confidence and hope you need to push past your pain.

In Joshua chapter one, the Children of Israel find themselves at a crossroad. Moses, their beloved leader had died. Can you imagine the pain and wide range of emotions they must have felt? Some most assuredly would have thought their promise of reaching the Promised Land was over. Some were content, undoubtedly, to eat manna in the wilderness for the rest of their lives. Entering the Promised Land would require dealing with the pain they were experiencing. Entering the Promised Land would require them dealing with the fear that they were trying to avoid. Simply put, entering the Promised Land would require them to push forward in faith.
God says to Joshua in Joshua 1:6 (ESV) “be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them”. God tells Joshua to push forward in faith. God knows it requires strength and courage to push forward in faith, so God gives him His Word that they will be successful. The same is true for you and I. If we are strong and courageous, with a faith in God that is unwavering, we can push forward in faith, just like Joshua did. As always, stay rooted in God.
Verse of the Week:
"Brothers and sisters, I do not regard myself as having taken hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,"
Philippians 3:13 (HCSB)
