There are several things that can cause us to feel insecure. Maybe you don’t like your physical appearance, so you feel insecure about that. Maybe life has not worked out how you planned and that has caused you to feel insecure. Or maybe someone spoke words of negativity over your life and you feel insecure about that. I have been battling insecurity. Sometimes I don’t feel as if I’m qualified. Sometimes I feel like I’m inadequate. Sometimes I feel like no matter how hard I try, it’s just not good enough. In these moments, I remind myself that God’s opinion of me overrides any insecurities that the enemy tries to plant in my heart. Insecurity can be a dangerous thing. Insecurity can slow down your progress. Insecurity can harm relationships. Insecurity can cause you to constantly second guess yourself and insecurity can stop you from reaching your God-given potential. Let me share with you two of many causes of insecurity:

1. Insecurity is caused by a displeasure with who you are. When you are not pleased with who you are, you begin to point out all of the flaws that you think you have. You begin to think your flaws are visible to the world; when often times, it is just in your own head.
2. Insecurity is caused when you embrace others perception of you
instead of receiving God’s acceptance of you. Words are powerful and many people live their lives based on the opinions of others. Living your life based on other people’s opinion of you can be completely exhausting.
If you have been battling insecurity, I have good news! This is a battle that you can overcome. God gives us the tools that we need to overcome insecurity. You can win the battle of insecurity when you:
Believe what God says about you and not what the enemy says about you. Remember that you are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).This means you are just the way you are supposed to be, all of your quirks and all. God can and will use what you perceive as flaws for his purposes.
Remember that it only matters what God thinks of you!
It is so easy to accept other people’s opinions about you as if it is the truth, but their opinions only have the power that you allow it to have. God, on the other hand, is the only one who has the power to make a real difference in your life. God says that all things are possible to those who believe (Matthew 19:26). Choose to focus on the words that Jesus spoke about you. Believe the report of the Lord.
Ultimately, feelings of insecurity will naturally occur. The question is: How will you choose to respond to those feelings? The choice is yours. Insecurity doesn’t have to torture you any longer. You have the power to rid yourself of insecurity by staying rooted in the Word of God.
Verse of the Week:
"I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well."
