Relying on God's Strength

Strength is something we all need. Strength is something we often don't recognize we have. God is the source of our strength. In our own strength, we are easily fatigued, easily frustrated, and easily discouraged. When God is the source of our strength, we have endurance, energy and hope. See the difference; God's strength uplifts us.

The Bible says in Psalm 29:11 that "the Lord gives strength to his people and blesses them with peace". This means for you and I that God gives us the strength we need when we need it most. This verse also teaches us that there is peace in knowing that God is our strength. We can be confident in knowing that if God called us to it, He will give us the strength to do it. God's strength is constantly on display:

God's strength allowed Samson to defeat the Philistines with a donkey's jawbone to save Israel (Judges 15:16).

God's strength allowed Paul to endure being stoned, beaten, and shipwrecked (2 Corinthians 11:25).

God's strength allowed Jesus to endure the suffering of the cross ( Hebrews 12:2).

What an awesome revelation that we don't have to do things in our strength. We all have countless things that we have to do each day from work, to maintaining the household, to spending time with our family and pursuing our God-given assignment. It can be a lot. God wants us to be reminded that God will do the heavy lifting in every area of our life if we rely on His strength and not our own strength. As always, stay rooted in God.

Meditation Verse:

fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10 ESV
